In 1938 due to the fear of war the urban district council proposed to establish a fire service in Buckley.  They advertised for 12 men, one of whom should have mechanical experience and knowledge of driving.  The first recruits were trained inChester.  Buckley Fire Station was then founded in 1939 and, until 1972, was located at the rear of the Swimming Baths in Buckley.  In 1972 it relocated toBrunswick Roadwhere it has been ever since.  In May 2008 work commenced to upgrade the facilities and make the station more suitable for a modern Fire and Rescue Service.  Now the station benefits from having separate male and female lockers, showers and toilets.  It now also has disabled facilities and a larger watch room which is also open for the public and local groups to use.

Community work:

Every year firefighters from Buckley organise and run the fireworks' display which is funded by the council and free to the public.  Each year some deserving charities are picked to receive the money raised on the night from collections. Also the crew attend numerous fêtes and galas and do school visits.
