Ynys Môn County Councillor Aled Morris Jones was elected as the Chair of the North Wales Fire and Rescue Authority at the Annual Meeting of the Fire and Rescue Authority, held at the Anglesey Council Chamber, Llangefni earlier today (Monday 18th June).

Councillor Morris Jones replaces Denbighshire Councillor Sharon Frobisher who served as Chair of the Authority for three years.

"Local Government is all about working together and the North Wales Fire and Rescue Authority is an excellent example of collaboration. I believe that North Walesis small enough to care and big enough to count and that this underpins our work on the Authority."

Denbighshire County Councillor Meirick Lloyd Davies was elected as the new Deputy Chair.  Councillor Davies first joined the Fire and Rescue Authority in 1999 and has previously spent time in the role of Deputy Chair. He also took on the role of chair of Denbighshire County Council between 2004 and 2005 and 2010 and 2011. He said: "As the new Deputy I am looking forward to drawing on my considerable experience as a member of the Authority, previous Deputy Chair and as a contributor to various sub committees over the years.

"My priority will be to support the Chair, the Chief Fire Officer and the members in ensuring North Wales remains a safe place to live, work and visit."
